Fledge Japan Co., Ltd. recognizes the importance of protecting personal information and handles personal information in accordance with Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI), related regulations and guidelines, and other applicable laws.

This policy is the general Fledge Japan policy. It does not replace a business-specific policy, such as the existing MET privacy policy, unless expressly stated.

2. Scope of This Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to personal information handled by Fledge Japan Co., Ltd. in connection with the Fledge Japan corporate website and businesses, brands, facilities, websites, events, projects, and services operated by Fledge Japan that do not have a separate privacy policy.

Current businesses operated by Fledge Japan include MET-EIS 保育園, MET英会話教室, MET英会話家庭教師 Online, and Hans Cafe.

Business-specific policies: Where an individual Fledge Japan business has its own privacy policy, privacy notice, enrollment agreement, consent form, or other specific rules, those business-specific terms apply to information collected specifically through that business or service. In particular, the existing MET privacy policy may continue to govern MET education and childcare services. This Fledge Japan Privacy Policy does not replace a business-specific policy unless Fledge Japan expressly states otherwise.

3. Personal Information We May Collect

Depending on the business or service, we may collect information such as name, address, telephone number, email address, date of birth or age where necessary, parent or guardian information, emergency contacts, reservation or application details, service history, purchase or payment information, inquiries, correspondence, preferences, feedback, website/device information, and other information reasonably necessary to provide the requested service.

For business contacts, suppliers, partners, contractors, applicants, or employees, we may also handle company information, job title, professional contact details, qualifications, application documents, contractual information, and related administrative records.

4. Health, Allergy, Dietary, and Other Sensitive Information

Where reasonably necessary for childcare, food service, travel, events, safety, employment, welfare-related services, or another applicable business, we may handle health information, allergy information, dietary restrictions, emergency information, disability-related information, or other special care-required personal information.

Such information will be collected and handled only to the extent necessary for the relevant service and in accordance with applicable legal requirements, including obtaining consent where required.

5. Purposes of Use

Fledge Japan may use personal information for the following purposes, as applicable:

  • to provide, operate, manage, and improve our businesses and services;
  • to respond to inquiries, applications, reservations, orders, requests, and customer communications;
  • to manage enrollment, bookings, purchases, payments, refunds, invoices, receipts, and other transactions;
  • to provide education, childcare, online learning, café, food, hospitality, language, translation, interpretation, tourism, international-support, digital, e-commerce, consulting, recruitment/employment-related, property/rental, and other services lawfully operated by Fledge Japan;
  • to communicate with customers, parents, guardians, students, participants, clients, partners, suppliers, and other persons involved in our activities;
  • to manage safety, emergency response, allergies, dietary needs, authorized pickup, or other service-specific requirements;
  • to personalize services according to relevant needs, preferences, goals, schedules, reservations, or circumstances;
  • to maintain business, accounting, tax, legal, operational, safety, and compliance records;
  • to operate, secure, analyze, and improve websites, online systems, communication tools, and digital services;
  • to prevent fraud, unauthorized access, misuse, security incidents, or other inappropriate activity;
  • to provide information about Fledge Japan or related businesses, services, events, or programs where permitted by law and, where required, with consent;
  • to conduct surveys, service evaluation, statistical analysis, planning, and business development using information appropriately handled for those purposes;
  • to manage recruitment, employment applications, staff administration, contractor relationships, and professional relationships;
  • to establish, exercise, or protect legal rights and to comply with applicable laws, regulations, administrative requirements, and lawful requests; and
  • to carry out activities reasonably related to the purposes described above.

6. Children and Minors

Some Fledge Japan businesses provide services to children and minors. Where appropriate, personal information concerning a child may be collected from or with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian.

More detailed rules concerning children, students, health and safety, photographs, enrollment records, and guardian consent may be provided through the applicable MET privacy policy, enrollment documents, consent forms, or other business-specific notices.

7. Photographs, Video, Audio, and Promotional Materials

Fledge Japan may take or use photographs, video, audio, testimonials, student work, event materials, or similar content only for an appropriate stated purpose and in accordance with applicable consent procedures and legal requirements. Where consent is required for identifiable promotional use, consent will be obtained before use.

8. Website Data, Cookies, and Similar Technologies

Fledge Japan websites may use cookies and similar technologies to operate website functions, maintain security, remember preferences, understand website usage, improve performance, and analyze visitor interaction. Website and device data may include IP address, browser type, device information, pages viewed, access date and time, referring pages, and similar technical information.

Third-party hosting, analytics, reservation, payment, communication, or other service providers may also use cookies or similar technologies in accordance with their own privacy practices.

9. Internal Handling Across Fledge Japan

Fledge Japan may internally handle information across its departments or business units only to the extent necessary for the purposes stated in this Policy or an applicable business-specific policy. Access will be limited according to business need and appropriate information-management controls.

Where information collected through a business-specific service is subject to a separate privacy policy, internal use will also remain subject to that policy.

10. Outsourcing and Service Providers

Fledge Japan may entrust certain operations to service providers, including providers of website hosting, cloud storage, payment processing, accounting, reservations, communications, IT support, printing, delivery, professional services, or other operational support.

Where personal data is entrusted to a service provider, Fledge Japan will select and supervise the provider appropriately in accordance with applicable law.

11. Provision of Personal Data to Third Parties

Fledge Japan will not provide personal data to a third party without the individual’s prior consent except where permitted or required by applicable law, including circumstances involving legal obligations, protection of life, body or property, public health or the sound development of children, cooperation with public authorities, or other lawful exceptions.

12. Processing or Transfer Outside Japan

Some cloud, website, payment, reservation, communication, or technology services used by Fledge Japan may process or store information outside Japan. Where applicable law requires specific consent, information, contractual measures, or other safeguards for handling or transfer to a foreign third party, Fledge Japan will take the measures required by law.

13. Security Measures

Fledge Japan takes necessary and appropriate organizational, personnel, physical, and technical measures to protect personal data against unauthorized access, loss, theft, leakage, alteration, destruction, or other improper handling.

Measures may include assigning responsibility for information management, internal handling procedures, access restrictions, staff confidentiality and training, secure document/device management, account and password controls, system updates, backup procedures, and measures against unauthorized external access. Additional information about security measures will be provided as required by law.

14. Retention and Disposal

Fledge Japan retains personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, continued provision of the relevant service, legal or regulatory requirements, accounting and tax requirements, safety or operational records, dispute resolution, or protection of legal rights.

When information is no longer reasonably required, it will be deleted, destroyed, anonymized, or otherwise appropriately disposed of where appropriate.

15. Personal Data Incidents

If a leakage, loss, unauthorized access, or other incident involving personal data occurs, Fledge Japan will investigate and take appropriate corrective and preventive measures. Where notification to the Personal Information Protection Commission, affected individuals, or another authority is required by law, Fledge Japan will take the required steps.

16. Requests Concerning Retained Personal Data

Subject to the conditions and procedures provided by applicable law, an individual may request notification of the purpose of use, disclosure of retained personal data or applicable third-party provision records, correction or addition of inaccurate data, deletion where applicable, suspension of use, or suspension of third-party provision.

Fledge Japan may request reasonable information to verify the identity of the person making the request or the authority of a representative. Requests should be submitted through the contact point stated at the end of this Policy.

17. Business Contacts, Recruitment, and Employment

Fledge Japan may use personal information of business representatives, suppliers, contractors, advisers, applicants, and employees for business communications, contracts, procurement, payments, partnerships, recruitment, employment administration, compliance, project management, and maintenance of professional relationships. Additional employment or recruitment notices may apply where necessary.

18. Future Businesses and New Services

Fledge Japan may establish, acquire, develop, or operate additional businesses, brands, facilities, websites, or services in the future. This Policy is intended to provide a common privacy framework for Fledge Japan businesses whose personal-information handling falls within the categories and purposes described above.

If a future business involves materially different uses of personal information, additional sensitive information, or legal requirements not adequately addressed by this Policy, Fledge Japan may provide a business-specific privacy notice, obtain additional consent, establish a separate privacy policy, or revise this Policy before the new handling begins.

19. Links and Third-Party Services

Fledge Japan websites may link to websites, social-media platforms, reservation services, payment systems, maps, or other online services operated independently by third parties. Those services are governed by their own privacy practices, and Fledge Japan is not responsible for the privacy practices of independently operated third-party services.

20. Changes to This Privacy Policy

Fledge Japan may revise this Privacy Policy when necessary because of changes in law or regulatory guidance, changes to our businesses or services, introduction of new technology, changes to information handling, or establishment of additional businesses. The current version will be published on the Fledge Japan website. Where required by law, additional notice or consent will be provided before materially different uses begin.
