Fledge Japan Co., Ltd. recognizes the importance of protecting personal information and handles personal information in accordance with Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI), related regulations and guidelines, and other applicable laws.

This Privacy Policy is the general corporate privacy policy of Fledge Japan Co., Ltd. It applies to the Fledge Japan corporate website and to Fledge Japan activities that do not have a separate privacy policy or privacy notice. Where a specific business, service, enrollment agreement, consent form, or other notice contains more specific privacy terms, those specific terms apply to the relevant information handling.

2. Scope of This Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to personal information handled by Fledge Japan Co., Ltd. in connection with the Fledge Japan corporate website, corporate inquiries, business relationships, and the businesses and services operated by Fledge Japan that do not have a separate privacy policy.

Fledge Japan’s current business activities include MET-EIS Nursery School, MET English Conversation School, MET English Conversation Online Tutoring, and café or hospitality activities operated by Fledge Japan, including Hans Café.

MET education and childcare services may be governed by a separate MET Group Privacy Policy, enrollment documents, consent forms, or other service-specific notices. When a separate policy or notice applies, this Fledge Japan Privacy Policy does not replace those more specific terms.

3. Personal Information We May Collect

Depending on how you interact with Fledge Japan, we may collect information such as your name, address, telephone number, email address, date of birth or age where necessary, parent or guardian information, emergency contact information, reservation or application details, service history, purchase or payment information, inquiries, correspondence, preferences, feedback, and information reasonably necessary to provide the requested service.

When you use the Fledge Japan corporate contact form, we may collect your first name, last name, email address, telephone number, subject of inquiry, message, and any information you voluntarily include in your communication.

For education or childcare services, additional information may be handled under the applicable MET privacy policy or service documents, including enrollment, attendance, learning, development, safety, health, allergy, emergency, authorized-pickup, and guardian information where relevant.

For business contacts, suppliers, contractors, partners, job applicants, or employees, we may also handle company name, job title, professional contact information, qualifications, application materials, contractual information, payment information, and other records reasonably necessary for the relevant relationship.

4. Health, Allergy, Dietary, and Other Sensitive Information

Where reasonably necessary for childcare, food or café services, events, safety, emergency response, employment, or another service that requires such information, Fledge Japan may handle health information, allergy information, dietary restrictions, disability-related information, emergency information, or other special care-required personal information.

Such information will be collected and handled only to the extent reasonably necessary for the relevant purpose and in accordance with applicable legal requirements, including obtaining consent where required by law. More detailed rules may apply under the relevant business-specific privacy policy, enrollment documents, health forms, or consent forms.

5. Purposes of Use

Fledge Japan may use personal information, as applicable, for the following purposes:

• to respond to corporate inquiries, questions, requests, proposals, partnership inquiries, and other communications;
• to provide, operate, administer, and improve the businesses and services actually offered by Fledge Japan;
• to process applications, enrollment, reservations, lesson or service scheduling, purchases, payments, refunds, invoices, receipts, and related transactions;
• to provide English-language education, childcare and early-childhood services, online learning, café or food services, events, and corporate or business-to-business education or training services operated by Fledge Japan;
• to communicate with customers, parents, guardians, students, participants, business clients, partners, suppliers, contractors, applicants, employees, and other persons involved in Fledge Japan activities;
• to manage safety, emergency response, allergies, dietary needs, authorized pickup, attendance, or other service-specific requirements where applicable;
• to maintain records required for business administration, accounting, tax, employment, safety, contracts, legal compliance, and dispute management;
• to operate, secure, maintain, analyze, and improve the Fledge Japan website and related online systems;
• to prevent fraud, unauthorized access, misuse, security incidents, or other improper activity;
• to provide information about Fledge Japan, its current businesses, programs, events, or services where permitted by law and, where required, with the individual’s consent;
• to conduct service evaluation, surveys, statistical analysis, planning, and business development using information handled appropriately for those purposes;
• to manage recruitment, employment applications, staff administration, contractor relationships, and professional relationships; and
• to comply with applicable laws, regulations, administrative requirements, lawful requests, and the establishment, exercise, or protection of legal rights.

If Fledge Japan begins a new service that requires a materially different use of personal information, the relevant purpose will be disclosed before that new handling begins, and this Privacy Policy or an appropriate service-specific notice will be revised where necessary.

6. Children and Minors

Some Fledge Japan businesses provide childcare or educational services to children and minors. Where appropriate, personal information concerning a child will be collected from, or with the involvement or consent of, a parent or legal guardian.

More detailed rules concerning children, students, health and safety, photographs, enrollment records, guardian consent, learning records, and childcare records may be provided through the applicable MET privacy policy, enrollment documents, consent forms, health forms, or other service-specific notices.

7. Photographs, Video, Audio, and Promotional Materials

Fledge Japan may take or use photographs, video, audio, testimonials, student or child work, event materials, or similar content only for an appropriate stated purpose and in accordance with applicable consent procedures and legal requirements.

Enrollment in, or use of, a Fledge Japan service does not by itself authorize public promotional use of an identifiable child’s, student’s, customer’s, or participant’s image, voice, work, or testimonial where separate consent is required. Appropriate consent will be obtained before such use.

8. Website Data, Cookies, and Similar Technologies

The Fledge Japan website may use cookies and similar technologies to operate website functions, maintain security, remember preferences, understand website usage, improve performance, and analyze visitor interaction. Technical information may include IP address, browser type, device information, pages viewed, access date and time, referring pages, and similar information.

Depending on how it can be linked to an individual, cookie or device information may constitute personal information or personal-related information under applicable law. Where legally required in connection with the provision of such information to another party or its acquisition as personal data, Fledge Japan will take the measures required by applicable law.

Third-party hosting, analytics, reservation, payment, communication, or other service providers may also process technical information or use cookies in accordance with their own services and privacy practices.

9. Internal Handling Across Fledge Japan

Because Fledge Japan operates multiple businesses under one company, personal information may be handled internally by appropriate Fledge Japan personnel where reasonably necessary for the purposes stated in this Privacy Policy or an applicable business-specific policy.

Information collected for one service will not automatically be used for an unrelated Fledge Japan activity merely because both services are operated by the same company. Internal access will be limited according to business need, stated purposes, and appropriate information-management controls.

Where information is subject to a business-specific privacy policy, enrollment agreement, consent form, or other notice, internal handling will also remain subject to those applicable terms.

10. Outsourcing and Service Providers

Fledge Japan may entrust certain operations to service providers, including providers of website hosting, cloud storage, communications, payment processing, accounting, reservations, online learning systems, IT support, printing, delivery, professional services, or other operational support.

Where personal data is entrusted to a service provider, Fledge Japan will select and supervise the provider appropriately and take necessary and appropriate measures in accordance with applicable law and the nature of the entrusted information.

11. Provision of Personal Data to Third Parties

Fledge Japan will not provide personal data to a third party without the individual’s prior consent except where permitted or required by applicable law.

Legal exceptions may include circumstances involving a legal obligation; protection of a person’s life, body, or property where obtaining consent is difficult; public health or the sound development of children where obtaining consent is difficult; cooperation with national or local public authorities where obtaining consent could interfere with the relevant duties; or other circumstances permitted by law.

Where applicable law requires records, confirmation, or other procedures relating to third-party provision, Fledge Japan will comply with those requirements.

12. Processing or Transfer Outside Japan

Some cloud, website, payment, reservation, communication, online-learning, or other technology services used by Fledge Japan may involve storage or handling of personal data outside Japan.

Where Fledge Japan provides personal data to a foreign third party or otherwise handles personal data in circumstances subject to the APPI’s cross-border requirements, Fledge Japan will confirm the applicable legal requirements and take the necessary measures. Where prior consent or advance information is legally required, the required information will be provided and the required consent will be obtained.

Where applicable, Fledge Japan will also take appropriate steps concerning the relevant foreign data-protection environment and the safeguards maintained by the service provider, and will provide additional information where required by law.

13. Security Measures

Fledge Japan takes necessary and appropriate organizational, personnel, physical, and technical security measures to protect personal data against unauthorized access, loss, theft, leakage, alteration, destruction, or other improper handling.

Measures may include assigning responsibility for information management, establishing handling procedures, limiting access, staff confidentiality and training, secure management of documents and devices, account and password controls, system updates, backup procedures, measures against unauthorized external access, appropriate supervision of service providers, and consideration of the external environment where personal data is handled outside Japan.

Information concerning applicable security-control measures will be provided upon reasonable request to the extent required by law and consistent with maintaining the effectiveness and security of those measures.

14. Retention and Disposal

Fledge Japan retains personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, continued provision of the relevant service, applicable legal or regulatory requirements, accounting and tax requirements, contractual obligations, safety or operational records, education or childcare administration where applicable, dispute resolution, or protection of legal rights.

When information is no longer reasonably required, Fledge Japan will delete, destroy, anonymize, or otherwise appropriately dispose of it where appropriate, subject to applicable record-retention requirements.

15. Personal Data Incidents

If a leakage, loss, unauthorized access, or other incident involving personal data occurs, Fledge Japan will investigate the circumstances and take appropriate containment, corrective, and preventive measures.

Where notification or reporting to the Personal Information Protection Commission, affected individuals, or another authority is required by law, Fledge Japan will make the required notification or report in accordance with the applicable requirements.

16. Requests Concerning Retained Personal Data

Subject to the conditions and procedures provided by applicable law, an individual may request notification of the purpose of use; disclosure of retained personal data or applicable third-party provision records; correction, addition, or deletion of inaccurate data; suspension or deletion of use where legally applicable; or suspension of third-party provision.

Requests may be submitted through the Fledge Japan contact form, the privacy contact stated in Section 21, or another method specifically designated by Fledge Japan for privacy requests. Fledge Japan may request reasonable information to identify the relevant records, verify the identity of the requester, or confirm the authority of a representative.

Fledge Japan will provide information concerning any required submission method, response method, or legally permitted fee applicable to a formal request. A request may be declined or limited where permitted or required by law; where required, an appropriate explanation will be provided.

17. Business Contacts, Recruitment, and Employment

Fledge Japan may use personal information relating to business representatives, schools or organizations considering Fledge Japan services, suppliers, contractors, advisers, applicants, and employees for business communications, proposals, contracts, procurement, payments, partnerships, recruitment, employment administration, compliance, project management, and maintenance of professional relationships.

Where a school, childcare facility, company, or other organization contracts with Fledge Japan for an educational or training program, Fledge Japan will handle contact and participant information only as reasonably necessary for the relevant program, contract, administration, safety, and lawful related purposes.

Additional employment, recruitment, contractor, or business-client privacy notices may be provided where appropriate.

18. Future Businesses and New Services

Fledge Japan may establish, acquire, develop, or operate additional businesses, brands, facilities, websites, or services in the future. This Privacy Policy will apply to a new Fledge Japan activity only to the extent that the handling of personal information falls within the categories and specific purposes already described in this Policy.

If a new business or service requires a materially different purpose of use, additional sensitive information, a new category of disclosure, or privacy handling not adequately addressed here, Fledge Japan will revise this Privacy Policy, provide an appropriate service-specific privacy notice, and/or obtain any consent required by applicable law before the relevant new handling begins.

19. Links and Third-Party Services

The Fledge Japan website may link to websites, social-media platforms, reservation services, payment systems, maps, video-conferencing services, online-learning platforms, or other online services independently operated by third parties.

Those independent services are governed by their own terms and privacy practices. Fledge Japan is responsible for its own handling of personal information but is not responsible for the independent privacy practices of a third-party service that it does not operate.

20. Changes to This Privacy Policy

Fledge Japan may revise this Privacy Policy when necessary because of changes in law or regulatory guidance, changes to its businesses or services, introduction of new technology, changes to information handling, or other appropriate reasons.

The current version and its effective or last-updated date will be published on the Fledge Japan website. Where applicable law requires additional notice or consent before a materially different use begins, Fledge Japan will provide the required notice or obtain the required consent before that handling is carried out.
